This double-blind randomized placebo-controlled crossover trial in people with asthma found that the bronchodilator response to salbutamol was non-inferior during bisoprolol treatment compared to placebo. This suggests that cardio-selective beta1-blockers do not significantly impair the response to inhaled beta2-agonist treatment in asthma. |

A candidate-based inducible eQTL study was performed in occasional smokers, identifying rs3212855 flanking the FPR as novel cigarette smoke-induced eQTL. In addition, rs3212855 was associated with lower lung function. Lastly, CRISPR-Cas9-downregulated FPR1 alveolar epithelial cells were protected against the harmful effects of cigarette smoke on epithelial repair. |

In this cohort study of 166 children with PBB, the frequency of wet cough exacerbation decreased with age. At 5-year follow-up, a significant proportion had a diagnosis of bronchiectasis, asthma or had persistent wet cough symptoms. Children with PBB require careful follow-up, appropriate investigation and treatment.

Our pilot study demonstrates that thoracic ultrasound (TUS) at the time of IPC removal can accurately determine pleurodesis success and identify patients in whom the effusion may recur. A PAS of greater than 10 predicted pleurodesis success with a sensitivity of 100% and specificity of 86%. |

Stearic acid levels in IPF lung tissues were reduced compared with those in control lung tissues. Stearic acid alleviated pulmonary fibrosis in vitro by inhibiting TGF-β1-induced p-Smad2/3. Stearic acid also showed antifibrotic effects in mice with bleomycin-induced lung fibrosis. Taken together, stearic acid may be a therapeutic target for IPF. |

Exercise capacity correlates with PAH severity and prognosis. However, exercise contraindications and poor patient tolerance might limit its use in clinical practice. We identified that low PETCO2 during low-intensity (FW) exercise is associated with PAH exercise capacity, providing predictive information for PAH risk stratification and prognostication. |
