Cancer treatment with immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) is prevalent and frequent use of ICIs results in increased immune-related adverse events (irAEs). We present a case of immune-related aseptic meningitis that occurred following atezolizumab (PD-L1 inhibitor) treatment. The immune-related aseptic meningitis was diagnosed using MRI with the Gadolinium (Gd)- enhanced Cube fluid-attenuated inversion recovery (FLAIR) sequence. |
Apoplexy in pituitary metastasis revealing a lung carcinoma
Kais Maamri, Mohamed Amine Hadj Taieb, Mohamed Ghorbel, Amine Trifa, Ghassen Elkahla, Mehdi Darmoul
DOI: 10.1002/rcr2.1080
Pituitary metastasis (PM) is an uncommon manifestation of systemic malignant tumours. Herein, we present a rare case of a PM unveiling lung cancer. |
An unusual case of interstitial lung disease: Revisiting peribronchiolar metaplasia interstitial lung disease (PBM-ILD)
Flora Jung, Shane Shapera, Michael Cabanero, Micheal McInnis, Jolene Fisher
DOI: 10.1002/rcr2.1081
We present a rare case of welding-associated PBM-ILD with clinical, radiographic, and histologic evidence consistent with the disease. We outline an approach to the diagnosis of PBM-ILD based on our experience through multidisciplinary discussion. |
Obstructive shock due to a spontaneous haemothorax caused by primary lung cancer

DOI: 10.1002/rcr2.1082
We present a case of obstructive shock due to spontaneous haemothorax. Tension haemothorax due to malignancy is rare, and when obstructive shock is combined with haemorrhagic shock, it can be very difficult to determine the cause of shock. |
A case of a pulmonary-renal syndrome caused by streptococcal infection
Junki Shimokawa, Hiroaki Nagano, Yoshihiko Raita
DOI: 10.1002/rcr2.1083
We report a case of a pulmonary-renal syndrome caused by streptococcal infection. This report highlights the facts that streptococcal infection is a relatively rare cause of pulmonary-renal syndrome, and short-term high-dose steroid monotherapy may be sufficient for its treatment. |
Recurrent pleural effusion from ovarian hemangioma: A rare pseudo-Meigs syndrome presentation

DOI: 10.1002/rcr2.1087
Ovarian hemangiomas are an uncommon type of benign vascular tumor of the female genital tract that are usually found incidentally during surgery or imaging and rarely present with symptoms such as pleural effusion. We present a case of recurrent right-sided pleural effusion caused by an ovarian hemangioma and diagnosed as pseudo-Meigs syndrome.Ovarian hemangiomas are an uncommon type of benign vascular tumor of the female genital tract that are usually found incidentally during surgery or imaging and rarely present with symptoms such as pleural effusion. We present a case of recurrent right-sided pleural effusion caused by an ovarian hemangioma and diagnosed as pseudo-Meigs syndrome. |
Unusual presentation of alveolar capillary dysplasia with misalignment of the pulmonary veins in a child with respiratory syncytial virus pneumonia: A case report

DOI: 10.1002/rcr2.1089
In a child presenting with hypoxemic respiratory failure, resistant pulmonary hypertension, and vasodilator-induced pulmonary edema, the possibility of ACDMPV should be considered, with the use of histopathology and genetic testing to confirm the diagnosis. The severity of the presentation will depend on the type of FOXF1 variant and the presence of extrapulmonary comorbidities. Extracorporeal support while awaiting lung transplantation for patients with mild-form ACDMPV can increase life expectancy. |

Pleuroparenchymal fibroelastosis in mycobacterium avium complex lung disease

DOI: 10.1002/rcr2.1084
We report a rare case of pleuroparenchymal fibroelastosis (PPFE) with interstitial lung disease that progressed after an onset of mycobacterium avium complex (MAC) lung disease in an 80-year-old Japanese woman. To our knowledge, little has been written and reported on the development of PPFE with ILD in MAC lung disease. The pathogenesis of PPFE with ILD in MAC lung disease remains obscure but it seems likely that triggers such as chronic/recurrent respiratory inflammation due to MAC infection may be involved. |
Empyema necessitans: After recent thoracostomy in an immunocompromised patient
Joana Almeida Borges, Daniela Madama
DOI: 10.1002/rcr2.1086
Empyema necessitans is a rare complication of pleural space infections that dissects through the pleura into the soft tissues of the chest. This case describes an unexpected complication of an empyema treated in an immunocompromised patient. |
