Solitary fibrous tumour of the pleura (SFT) is rare neoplasms and consist less than 5% of the primary tumours of the pleura, with very few cases published in the English literature. We report a clinical case of an intrathoracic giant SFT of the pleura in a 62-year-old female patient. Additionally, we provide a review of the clinical, imaging and histopathological features, the therapeutic management and the clinical course of giant SFTs published in the English literature. |
Temporary stenting in a case of bronchomalacia due to relapsing polychondritis
Hiroshi Handa, Hajime Tsuruoka, Shin Matsuzawa, Shinya Azagami, Masamichi Mineshita
DOI: 10.1002/rcr2.1060
Airway involvement in relapsing polychondritis (RP) can often be debilitating and life threatening. We present a case with unilateral main bronchial stenosis in whom temporary stenting with a silicone stent was able to dilate the left main bronchial stenosis on inhalation and improved the patient's respiratory symptoms. |
Pulmonary IgG4-related disease with favourable response to rituximab: A case report
Romain Muller, Mikael Ebbo, Paul Habert, Julia Torrents, Jean Yves Gaubert, Nicolas Schleinitz
DOI: 10.1002/rcr2.1061
We report here the case of a patient with pulmonary involvement of IgG4-RD successfully managed with Rituximab, in induction and maintenance therapy. This original case could support the use of Rituximab in rare situations of steroid-resistant or steroid-dependent pulmonary IgG4-RD. |
A case of anti-melanoma differentiation-associated gene 5 antibody-positive dermatomyositis-associated rapidly progressive interstitial lung diseases developed after administration of COVID-19 vaccine and subsequent pneumococcal vaccine
Saeko Takahashi, Ai Kato, Kanako Hashimoto, Tomohiro Takehara, Kota Ishioka, Satoshi Takanashi
DOI: 10.1002/rcr2.1064
Five cases of anti-melanoma differentiation-associated gene 5 antibody-positive dermatomyositis-associated rapidly progressive interstitial lung diseases (anti-MDA5-positive DM-RPILD) following COVID-19 vaccination have been reported previously. We present the first case of the disease that developed following the sequence of COVID-19 infection, COVID-19 vaccination, and 23-valent pneumococcal polysaccharide vaccine (PPSV23) administration. |
Pulmonary sarcoidosis with a cavitary lesion in the lung caused by a TNF-α inhibitor: A case report

DOI: 10.1002/rcr2.1065
We report a case of sarcoidosis, a cavitary lesion in the lung induced by the TNF-α inhibitor, adalimumab. |
Incipient empyema as an embolic complication of group A streptococcal septic arthritis in a patient with concomitant influenza B infection
Jack Callum, Darcy Hinde, Rusheng Chew
DOI: 10.1002/rcr2.1067
We present an unusual case of incipient group A streptococcal empyema arising through haematogenous seeding from an extra-thoracic source. Concurrent influenza B infection likely predisposed to the rapid development of pleural infection. This case reminds clinicians to be aware of the strongly pyogenic nature of group A streptococcus and its significance as a potential cause of pleural infection, especially in patients with concurrent viral respiratory infections. |

Granulomatous tracheo-bronchitis from Crohn's disease
Amr J Alwakeel, Stéphane Beaudoin
DOI: 10.1002/rcr2.1056
Tracheo-bronchitis is an uncommon but important extra-intestinal manifestation of Crohn's disease. We present a patient with radiological, bronchoscopic, and pathological evidence of tracheo-bronchitis secondary to Crohn's disease. This case highlights the importance of investigating airway involvement in patients with Crohn's disease and new respiratory symptoms. |
Negative pressure pulmonary edema in a patient with COVID-19

DOI: 10.1002/rcr2.1062
Negative pressure pulmonary edema (NPPE) should be considered in the differential diagnosis from an episode of asphyxia, and even if NPPE is diagnosed, the possibility of COVID-19 should be kept in mind under coronavirus pandemic conditions. |
Bilateral pneumothoraces with apical consolidations
Yoshiaki Kinoshita, Takuhide Utsunomiya, Hisako Kushima, Hiroshi Ishii
DOI: 10.1002/rcr2.1066
Bilateral pneumothoraces are extremely rare. We present a fatal case of a patient diagnosed with secondary pneumothorax associated with idiopathic pleuroparenchymal fibroelastosis (PPFE) who died of type II respiratory failure one year after the onset of pneumothorax. PPFE should be considered a cause of bilateral pneumothoraces with apical fibrosis. |
Epipericardial fat necrosis in a patient with sudden chest pain
Satoshi Ikeo, Naoaki Yasuda, Yuki Sakai, Yasuyuki Hayashi, Akihiko Sokai, Toshiyuki Iwata, Takashi Nishimura
DOI: 10.1002/rcr2.1068
We report a case of epipericardial fat necrosis (EFN) in a patient with sudden chest pain. Clinicians should be kept in mind that EFN is self-limiting and is often followed up with imaging. |
