Abstract Submission

Guidelines for Abstract Submission

  1. The abstract should be submitted in electronic format ONLY.
  2. The abstract must be written in English and its font needs to be typed with Time New Roman, size 12 in order to avoid any character corruption.
  3. The abstract file should be supplied as one file which includes any tables, figures and references.
  4. Structure:
    1. The abstract should be no longer than 400 words in total. This includes title, authors, headings, text, references, tables, and figures.
    2. The abstract should comprise the following elements, with each element beginning a new paragraph:
      • Title
      • Author(s)
      • Address(es)
      • Abstract text (may be divided into the following optional subheadings)
        • Introduction
        • Methods
        • Results
        • Conclusions
      • References (optional)
      • Key words (4-6, optional)
    3. The title, authors, and addresses should appear as a single paragraph; the abstract text should also be one paragraph, unless structured with subheadings, in which case each section should be a separate paragraph.
    4. Tables can be included with abstracts
  5. The abstract title should be in all capitals.
  6. Author's name should be supplied as follows;
    1. First Name, Middle Name, Last Name
    2. If there are initials, full points should be inserted between them.
    3. Author's institutional affiliations should be indicated with superscript numbers.
    4. The corresponding or presenting author should be indicated by formatting the author's name in bold.
  7. Reference List
    1. References can be supplied as either in-text or listed references.
    2. If there is reference list, it should be preceded by a 'Reference' heading.
    3. References in the reference list should be numbered, and each reference should start a new paragraph.
    4. Reference citations in the text should be presented as superscript Arabic numerals.
    5. All references in the reference list should be cited in the text of the abstract.
    6. Reference citations of numbered references should be in Vancouver Style.
  8. Abbreviations
    1. Standard abbreviations are listed in the Respirology abbreviations word list. All other abbreviations and acronyms should be clearly defined.
  9. It is affirmable that the materials used in abstracts are original work and the abstract should not be published in any publication before the meeting time.
  10. The abstract submission should be made before 31 August 2008.
  11. The notification of acceptance will be sent to the author by email before 10 September 2008.
