World Environment Day activities

The Sri Lanka College of Pulmonologists (copsl.lk) organised the programme for World Environment Day 2023 in collaboration with Cipla Sri Lanka held on 5 June 2023 with the engagement of over 500 participants at the Viharamahadevi Park, Colombo, Sri Lanka.

The programme consisted of a series of public awareness lectures by experts in the field on "Air pollution and Effects of micro plastic on the environment" and an exhibition to enlighten the public on environment pollution. The chief guest for the event was the Hon. Minister of Health of Sri Lanka, while several Ministry officials, environmental activists and public leaders joined with SLCP members to lobby for environmental protection.

Another highlight of the event was an arts exhibition by school children throughout the country. This showcased the talents and passions of the next generation and certificates and prizes were awarded to young artists.

In addition, a tree planting campaign at the new OPD complex of the National Hospital of Sri Lanka, Colombo was held in the afternoon in collaboration with Getz Pharma to mark the World Environment Day.

The College is dedicated in upholding its responsibility of environmental preservation throughout the entire year, with a specific focus on averting air pollution.
