What do we do?

Mission:

The Pulmonary Circulation Assembly focuses on two main aspects. The first aspect broadly consists of the development of novel knowledge on pulmonary hypertension (PH) mainly due to pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) and chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH); the improvement of treatments for patients with PH; the enhancement of organization and supporting of the social societies associated with patients of PH and respiratory diseases. The second one is to introduce and induce, with greatest efforts, the achievements of the first one to all APSR members.

Interests:

  1. High altitude research (Acute and chronic mountain sickness; High altitude pulmonary hypertension (HAPH))
  2. Advancement of diagnosing and treatment of patients with acute and chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH)
  3. Training and education for respiratory physicians
  4. Research of pathogenesis of PH
  5. Refractory PH associated with respiratory and non-respiratory diseases
  6. Technologic limitation in diagnosing and treating for PH in most of the Asia-Pacific region
  7. Promoting publication of research works and clinical cases

Who should join?

The members of the Pulmonary Circulation Assembly are composed of physicians, researchers, and healthcare professionals who are interested in fulfilling the Assembly's missions described above. The Assembly actively enrolls members of the APSR who are keen to develop knowledge, build contacts and networks, present research ideas and build research collaborations regarding PAH, CTEPH, and PH associated with respiratory diseases. Meanwhile, the Assembly welcomes all the members of APSR who are interested in the clinical issues using new diagnostic and therapeutic techniques on diseases of pulmonary circulation. The Assembly urgently recruits APSR senior members with vast experiences who wish to share their knowledge and skills in training and educating the next generation in the fields of acute pulmonary thromboembolism, PH, and pulmonary vascular diseases. Lastly, the Assembly wishes to meet APSR members who are keen to submit ideas for talks and presentations at Pulmonary Circulation Assembly Symposium in future APSR annual Congresses.

Who are the Assembly leaders?

The current Assembly Head, Prof. Sooronbaev is interested in the research of PH in native highlanders, such as high-altitude pulmonary hypertension (HAPH) and chronic mountain sickness (CMS); the Head-Elect Associate Prof. Nagaoka is interested in the basic research of pathogeneses of PH due to lung diseases. The Deputy Head, Zhenguo Zhai is interested in PH due to PE. We welcome all APSR members to join, not only to discuss hot topics about the latest strategies aiming at diagnosis and treatment of pulmonary embolism or PH, but also to clarify the epidemiology of these diseases among the Asian countries, and eventually to distribute the newest modalities of diagnosis and treatment of PH to all APSR doctors.
