Nagoya University Graduate School of Medicine, Japan
I am honoured to have received the abstract award for young investigators and give a poster presentation in the APSR-ISRD session at ATS 2019. I report the experience of the session. I had several precious experiences there.
First, a lot of awardees gave motivating presentations. The awardees were mostly non-native English speakers and mostly the same generation. They gave special presentations in good English. As I am poor at English, I was stimulated by their presentations and discussions in good English. I have to practise English, and I want to be able to discuss in English.
Second, I could interact with researchers who were interested in the same research area of mine. I got several chances to discuss with them through the ATS Conference. They became my first foreign friends around my research area.
Third, the presentation at the APSR-ISRD session helped me for much better performance at the ATS Conference. It was the first time for me to attend an international conference. So, I got nervous. Fortunately, I got experience for poster presentation and Q & A at the APSR-ISRD session. Thus, I succeeded in my presentation and Q & A at the ATS Conference after the joint session.
In summary, I listened to the exciting presentations by young investigators of APSR members. I got to know foreign researchers in my research area. I succeeded in my presentation at the ATS conference, thanks to the APSR-ISRD session.
I am grateful to have been able to attend this joint session. I am honoured to have received the award. I pray for the development of the joint session.
