Assembly Education Award

The APSR is pleased to announce the availability of Awards for assembly members to present at their assembly meetings during the APSR Congress in Kyoto 20–21 November 2021.

Awards will be made on the basis of scientific merit as judged impartially by the Congress Abstract Scoring system.

There are six or nine awards available for each Assembly, depending on the budget and time available in the assembly meeting's schedule. The awards will be distributed as follows:

(a)One third for congress host country awardees
(b)One third for LMIC awardees
(c)One third for neither host country nor LMIC awardees
  • One third means two or three awards, depending on whether there are six or nine awards for the awardee's assembly.
  • LMIC means Low- Middle-Income Country.
If the congress host country is an LMIC, then the LMIC awardees (b) will be from other than the congress host country.
The Award:
  • $250 grant to each awardee
  • Experience presenting at the prestigious APSR Congress to an audience which includes expert mentors. The mentors comprise Assembly Leaders and Education Committee members, who will give useful feedback and specialist advice. Click here to see sample feedback at the previous Congress.
The Awardee:
  • Must be an APSR member (through en bloc membership or individual membership)
  • Must be a member of the relevant assembly when submitting their abstract, and still be a member of that assembly when attending the Congress. Those not currently a member of that assembly may join now (free).
  • Must be aged ≤40 at the start of the Congress
  • Cannot be a winner of any other award for the same paper nor have other travel support
  • Must be the First Author of the abstract, attend the Assembly Meeting, and present your paper at that Meeting. They should be able to complete their presentation within 3-5 minutes, depending on the time available at the Meeting, typically supported by one slide per minute of presentation.
  • Must register for the Congress before their individual "cut-off date".
The cut-off date will be provided by the Secretariat after their abstract has been accepted. This date will be earlier than the usual registration deadline, to enable the programme schedule to be compiled and awards to be considered.
