H1N1 influenza virus

The American Thoracic Society (ATS) added a special session to their International Conference in San Diego 15-20 May 2009, with experts in influenza and public health. During the standing-room-only session, speakers presented epidemiological data from Mexico City and from the United States, provided a historical view of influenza pandemics, spoke about the origins and transmission of the virus, and offered insights into what preparations hospitals should be considering in the event H1N1 develops into a more severe and virulent virus.
