This pre-congress ESAP took place at Pacifico Yokohama, Japan, prior to the 18th Congress of the APSR.
Junior and senior training medical doctors, registered nurses, advanced practice registered nurses, paramedical and care givers, who are interested in learning the current management and treatment of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, idiopathic interstitial pneumonias and about the new concept of categorization based on ethnic differences in clinical behavior.

The educational seminar provided useful information and interpretations of the evidence-based guideline of idiopathic interstitial pneumonias that was recently updated. In particular, the audience was educated on the innovative view and challenges of trying to manage patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) in the real-world clinical practice. Two Japanese speakers talked about ethnic differences between asian and caucasian patients with IPF, focusing on the clinical management and diagnosis of acute exacerbations of the disease. In addition, the seminar provided recent concepts and future aspects of clinical trials that are globally being undertaken in patients with IPF.
