Message from the President of the APSR

YoungSoo Shim

I would like to congratulate the Philippine College of Chest Physicians on holding the 15th Congress of the APSR in Manila, the Philippines. The 15th APSR Congress will be held at the Philippines International Convention Center in Manila from 22nd to 25th November, 2010 under the leadership of Dr. Tess de Guia, the Congress President of 15th APSR Congress.

The four-day congress, will feature ESAP, PG courses, lectures by prominent scholars in respirology, and symposiums, and it will alsoencourage academic exchanges through oral presentations and posters.

The 15th Congress has special meaning to the APSR.

This Congress is the first Congress of the APSR as the sole international respiratory society representing Asia-Pacific Region. Also, the Forum of International Respiratory Societies has declared 2010 as the "Year of the Lung" and has planned many activities to raise awareness of lung disease and the importance of lung research through out 2010. The 15th Congress will be the high point of the APSR YOTL activity with special symposium.

The organizing committee has also arranged a wide variety of social events and tour programmes where you can experience the culture and the traditions of the Philippines.

I hope this Congress will be an exciting, productive gathering of respirologists from the Asia-Pacific Region to share their knowledge and experiences on respiratory disease, and seek stronger networks with each other.

I deeply thank the APRS 2010 Local Organizing Committee for their dedication and support to make the Congress a successful one, and I'd also like to encourage all of you to put a continuous interest and involvement in this year's Congress.

I wish I can meet you all in November at the 15th APSR Congress in Manila, the Philippines.

Message from the President of PCCP

Abundio A Balgos

Greetings!

In behalf of the officers and members of the Philippine College of Chest Physicians, we are honored and privileged to welcome you to Manila for the 15th Congress of the Asian Pacific Society of Respirology on November 22-25, 2010 at the Philippine International Convention Center.

With the theme of 'Asia-Pacific Respirology: Symbiosis in the 21st Century', the local organizing committee, headed by Dr. Teresita de Guia has prepared a well balanced educational-social-cultural-sports and recreational programme. We are expecting the active participation of the experts of Pulmonary Medicine not only from Asia but from Europe and the USA

It is fortuitous that this convention would come at a time when the Forum of International Respiratory Societies, for which APSR is the sole international respiratory society representing the Asia Pacific region, has declared 2010 as the YEAR OF THE LUNG. While the PCCP has organized monthly activities for lung health and disease prevention advocacies, the 15th APSR convention will serve as the culminating activity of the Philippine's own celebration of the Year of the Lung.

We sincerely hope that you will be able to bring back good memories to your home countries, of the sharing of knowledge from our scientific sessions, as well as the hospitality of the Filipino people.

Mabuhay!

Message from the President of the Local Congress Committee

Teresita S de Guia

Greetings!

For the first time, the APSR Congress on its 15th year, will be held in Manila, Philippines on November 22 - 25, 2010 at the Philippine International Convention Center, CCP Complex, Pasay City. We consider it a great honor for our country to host this premier congress in the Asia-Pacific region.

The local organizing committee is working hard to make this meeting a success. The scientific cluster have planned a broad-based topic to include universal disorders and conditions commonly found in the Asia-Pacific region. Speakers will be selected among international and regional experts. We strongly enjoin our younger colleagues to submit abstracts, to showcase studies being done globally.

Aside from the learning activities, we will have social activities to foster camaraderie among regional participants. We open our invitation not only to physicians, but also to Nurses and Respiratory Therapists.

We invite our partners from pharmaceutical companies to be generous in their support to the success of the congress.

We look forward to your unwavering participation and attendance.
