Social Programme

Don't miss the chance to relax and mingle with your colleagues at the congress social events. Various entertainment programmes, events and cuisines await participants and accompanying persons of the programme.

  • Fun Golf
    Date & Time: 07:00-13:00 22 November 2010 (Monday)
    Venue: Club Intramuros, Manila

    The 1st APSR Golf Tournament

    Enjoy the scenic course beside the Walled City of Intramuros with friends and colleagues.

    There will be golf clubs available for rent at the golf course. The course is short but tricky. With regards the shoes, while there may be shoes for rent, we recommend that you bring your own just to make sure they fit you. No spikes please.

  • Opening Ceremony / Welcome Reception
    Date & Time: 17:30-21:00 22 November 2010 (Monday)
    Venue: Plenary Hall and Courtyard, Philippine International Convention Center

    The Opening Ceremony will be held 18:00-19:00 in the PICC Plenary Hall

    This will officially mark the commencement of the 15th APSR Congress - Manila. The famous award-winning UST Singers will be featured during this event. All delegates are invited to come.

    The Welcome Reception will follow until 22:00 in the PICC Courtyard (Rock Garden). Theme: 'One Region, One World: The Philippines Welcomes the APSR'

    This Welcome Reception will showcase the distinct Philippine hospitality and display the Filipinos' love for celebrations for various reasons ranging from successes among communities and individuals, to religious ceremonies and traditional fiestas.

    The festivals of the different islands comprising the Philippine archipelago will be highlighted in music, dance and visuals. This will be complemented by a sumptuous dinner with the "Barrio Fiesta" atmosphere.

    Our featured talents for the evening are the Banda Kawayan, the world-famous Ballet Manila with Miss Liza Macuja-Elizalde and the TUX.

    The event is open to all delegates and invited guests.

  • APSR President's Dinner
    Date & Time: 18:30-21:00 23 November 2010 (Tuesday)
    Venue: Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila
  • The Presidents' Honour Banquet (by invitation only) will take place at the Sunset Pavilion, Sofitel. Theme: 'Welcome to Ciudad de Manila'.

    An atmosphere of entering into the "Gubernadursilyo" during the Spanish Colonial period in Old Manila will be re-created. The elegance of the era will be captured and presented in the form of dining and entertainment.

    Philippine artwork by the country's contemporary masters will be on exhibit.

    During the dinner, the guests will be enthralled by the graceful dancers from the Fundacion Centro Flamenco and serenaded by our PCCP Chorale. Towards the end of the dinner, Halo-halo will be served and the highlight of the evening will be a short spiel on "What Makes the Filipino Unique". This will be excellently delivered by our very own Dr. Tomas Realiza.

    The evening promises to be a visual and gustatory treat for all.

  • Gala Congress Dinner
    Date & Time: 18:30-22:00 24 November 24, 2010 (Wednesday)
    Venue: Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo, Cultural Center of the Philippines, CCP Complex, Manila
  • Theme: 'Breathe: A Celebration of Life'

    Pre-show programme and cocktails will be at the Lobby of the Cultural Center of the Philippines. This will be promptly followed by a specially commissioned show for the Congress.

    The programme will have four segments:

    1. Barebones : grassroots - expresses the Filipino groundedness with our gods, our habitat and our cultural roots.
    2. Breathe In, Breathe Out - is our zest for living life to the fullest; taking on life's challenges...and, pushing ourselves to the limits.
    3. Flex - reaching out to the less fortunate and fellowmen in need. The Society's accomplishments as an advocate for lung health and community service will be highlighted. The Full Cast, will showcase and interpret the "Seven Corporal Works of Mercy".
    4. Celebrate Life! - is a showcase of the Filipino's penchant for festivities and communal gatherings.

    All delegates and invited guests are welcome to enjoy the evening.

    Tickets will be given during the President's Honor Banquet.

  • Closing Ceremony

    Venue: Summit Hall, Philippine International Convention Center
