APSR Travel Award to the ATS International Conference

Conference and award for 2020 cancelled due to the COVID-19 virus. We hope to be able to offer the same award at the 2021 Conference

The APSR is pleased to announce the availability of Awards for two members to attend the ATS International Conference in Philadelphia, 15–20 May 2020.

The two awardees will be those judged by the APSR Research Committee to have submitted the best abstracts. Abstracts must be submitted to the ATS, not to the APSR.

Note that visas for the US can take a long time to process, depending on nationality and location. Contact your local US Embassy for details.

The Award:
  • Return economy airfare from the awardee's usual place of residence to Philadelphia
  • Cost of accommodation at an ATS-designated hotel
  • Conference registration
The Awardee:
  • Must be an APSR member (en bloc or individual)
  • Must be aged ≤40 at the start of the Conference
  • Must have 3-7 years post-PhD (or equivalent) or 3-7 years post-certification as a professional respiratory specialist
  • Must be the first author of an accepted abstract and able to attend the Conference in person.
  • Must submit their abstract to the ATS (not the APSR) before the deadline shown at ATS Abstract Submission details and guidelines
    Note: Normal abstract submission closed on 30 October 2019, and Late breaking abstract submission closed on 29 January 2020.
  • Must email their application to the APSR Secretariat education@theapsr.org by 1 March 2020, comprising
    • A copy of your abstract sent to the ATS
    • A brief curriculum vitae including a list of publications, and the year the postgraduate qualifications were obtained
    • An outline of their benefits for their attendance at the ATS Conference
  • The Awardee is required to send a report (circa 500 words) of their experience at the Conference or joint session, to the APSR Secretariat within one month after the ATS International Conference, together with their photo at the Conference. The report may be published on the Young Investigators webpage, APSR Bulletin and/or Newsletter.
